Israel's Amit Tamir is having no trouble making the adjustment from college basketball in America to the European professional ranks.
The 25-year-old Tamir, coming off an impressive career with the California Golden Bears in the PAC-10, is now plying his trade with PAOK in Greece and on Saturday he poured in 22 points to lead them to an 86-69 victory over Makedonikos.
Tamir is a 2.10m center who likes to step outside and shoot three-pointers. He did just that against Makedonikos, making five of six.
He was ably supported by Australian international Matthew Nielsen, a player who shone at the Olympics for the Boomers. Nielsen had 16 points.
In other games, Apollon Patras edged Aris 78-72, Maroussi won 81-78 at Panionios and FIBA Europe League side Olympia Larissa prevailed 80-78 at Ionikos.
On Sunday, Olympiacos host Panellinios and AEK Athens visit Iraklis. |
