The prolific Ruslan Otverchenko poured in another 21 points to help Ukraine keep their winning streak going at the U20 European Championship Men 2010 as they punched their ticket for the quarter-finals in Zadar with a thrilling 66-64 win over Serbia.
Trailing 62-54 after a three-pointer by Nemanja Jaramaz (watch his postgame reaction here), it had looked like Ukraine were going to have to sweat it out against Lithuania in their last game but Serbia were in a generous mood and left the door open for a comeback.
Ukraine took full advantage and fittingly it was Otverchenko who sunk the dagger shot from the perimeter with 44 seconds left to get Ukraine in front 65-64.
Serbia had the opportunity to win the game but on their last possession, Aklesandar Mitrovic opted for an early outside shot rather than going to the hoop or looking inside.
Center Maksym Sandul had a fantastic night for Ukraine with a line of 14 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists and this was instrumental in their success which also confirms their place as runners-up in Group E.
Mitrovic top scored for Serbia with 15 points and he now has to lead his team into a daunting final clash with unbeaten Greece who will definitely take top spot in the Group.
