GAME REPORT

Spirited Slovenia End Germany's Dream

Slovenia injected some serious life into their U20 European Championship Men 2010 campaign and simultaneously delivered a killer blow to Germany in the process who were dumped into the Relegation Round after going into meltdown mode.

This overwhelming 75-54 victory was a major success for Slovenia who had been drinking in the last chance saloon but can now raise a glass to toast their first success in Makarska.

Their triumphant celebrations in the centre of the court shortly after the final buzzer sounded highlighted the importance of this game and having been loud in expressing their joy, they can look ahead with real hope of making some noise in the tournament.

It was Dino Muric who was mostly being mobbed by his team-mates after a stellar 25 point effort including three of four from the perimeter. However, it was no one-man show with the Slovenian tam pumped-up and hard working for the full fourty minutes.

As for Germany, their bubble burst in spectacular fashion. After floating on cloud nine in the wake of their last second triumph over Spain on day one, those clouds are a lot darker and they now find themselves having to fight for the second successive year to remain in the Division.

It was a shocking end to each half that cost Germany dearly. At 24-24 there was little sign that the Germans would end up trailing by double digits as they left the court at the midway point of the game.

Then, after they had worked hard to claw their way back, they simply imploded in the last five minutes of the game as Slovenia gleefully sailed into the Qualifying Round.

Maurice Stuckey was the only man to reach double-figures for Germany with 13 points.
