The shooting ace drained six triples in a 28 point haul to help secure the 91-70 success and he wasn't the only Ukraine player to impress. Ruslan Otverchenko weighed in with 21 points and 5 assists while in the front-court, Kyryl Natyazhko recorded 18 points and 6 rebounds before eventually fouling out.
Meanwhile Valdyslav Kondratyev did the dirty work on the glass to keep Latvia from second chance opportunities. He pulled down a superb 12 defensive rebounds to underline the Ukrainian supremacy.
Latvia were really up against it from tip to buzzer after Ukraine got off to a flying start by raining down their first four of five attempts from the perimeter. Ukraine then finished the first half powerfully to take a 40-27 lead into the locker room.
Things deteriorated further in the third quarter for Latvia as they were ripped apart by Natyazhko with the Arizona player rampant during a particularly devastating spell. His hard work took the score out to 59-38 and things looked bleak for Latvia who failed to recover.
Meiers and Oto Osenieks both registered 15 points each for the losing side.
