Race To Avoid Drop Still On

17 July 2010

The fight for survival at the U20 European Championship Men 2010 in Croatia is still in full swing heading into the final day of action in the Relegation Round.

While Czech Republic have already dropped straight back to Division B after having only achieved promotion last summer, it's all still to be decided for Netherlands, Germany and Turkey.

In yesterday's action Turkey defeated the Germans for the second

Crucially as far as Turkey are concerned, their destiny is very much in their own hands. If they beat Czech Republic they will remain in Division A and that will set up a dramatic battle royale between Germany and Netherlands in a straight fight for survival.

However, if Turkey lose to the already relegated Czech Republic then they will be left to sweat it out as a Germany win against Netherlands could result in them crashing out of the Division.

The fate of Czech Republic meanwhile is particularly harsh on the outstanding Tomas Satoransky who did everything in his power to try and save his team but it just wasn't to be. The playmaker produced another stellar contribution of 19 points and 9 assists against Netherlands but it was to be in vain as their fate was sealed with an 81-71 defeat.
