Jaka Blazic is one of the most exposed members of the new wave of Slovenian international players, making his debut for the senior team at home at EuroBasket 2013. Coming from Jesenice, it is not unusual, that his first sport was ice hockey, which he started playing at the age of six. He first played basketball when he was ten and he likes to point out that this was love at first sight. He made his mark playing in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague with Union Olimpija and Crvena zvezda Telekom for the past four years, becoming well-known for his athleticism and ability to penetrate to the hoop while undisputedly his main strength is running in transition and aggressive defence. He is already seen as one of the key players for the future of the Slovenian national team, even though his role at last year's World Cup was merely peripheral.
