Jaka Blazič is one of the most exposed members of the younger generation of Slovenian international players, who made a debut for the senior team last summer, when Slovenia only played a handful of preparation games and has not played a single game in FIBA or FIBA Europe competitions for his country. Coming from Jesenice, it is not unusual to learn that his first sport was ice hockey, which he started playing at the age of six. He first played basketball when he was 10 and he liked it to the point that it was love at first sight. He has made his mark playing in Euroleague with Union Olimpija for the past two years and became well known for his athleticism and ability to penetrate to the hoop while undisputedly his main strength is running in transition. He is already seen as one of the key players for the future of the Slovenian national team.
