France were surprisingly big winners over Russia in Group C, beating the men from Moscow 92-63 with Souarata Cissé pouring in 20 points, grabbing five boards and blocking on shot.
The French stormed out to a 30-15 lead by the end of the first quarter with Cissé scoring eight of his points.
After the Russians clawed their way back to 45-34 at half-time, France stretched their lead back to 22 at 70-48 by the end of the third period and then cruised home over the final 10 minutes.
France were 10 of 18 from three-point range with Michael Mokongo, who had 16 points, burying four of six from the arc.
The French out-rebounded Russia 34-19 in the game. |
