FIBA Europe representative Richard Stokes visited Estonian capital Tallinn to see all the venues, hotels and other facilities for the upcoming U20 European Championship. During the press conference that was held on Friday morning Juri Ratas, the President of the Estonian Basketball Association, expressed his thanks to FIBA Europe for trusting the Estonian federation with the organisation of the tournament. "This is a logical step forward for us. We have organised many youth tournaments. And after this, we wish to move forward to organising a EuroBasket tournament in co-operation with our neighbouring countries," said Ratas. "We have a good relationship with the Estonian Basketball Association, we are confident that they will do a good job organising the event. They have a lot of experience with organising FIBA Europe tournaments," added Stokes. The U20 European Championship will be held in capital Tallinn from 9-21 July. The main game venue will be Saku Suurhall, the home arena of the Estonian men's national team. The second game arena will be the Sports Hall of Tallinn Technical University (TTÜ Sports Hall). Tallinn will also play host to the FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate (FECC) during the last week of the tournament. |
