BC Moscow Set Up Showdown With Chevakata

07 February 2008

BC Moscow thrashed Panionios BC for the second week in a row to set up an all-Russian showdown with Chevakata in the EuroCup Women quarter-finals.

The Moscow team had won the first encounter in Greece 81-58, reducing the home leg to a mere formality.

They beat Panionios again on Thursday, 87-51, with Plenette Pierson scoring a game-high 20 points.

Alexander Vasin's team led 18-12 early in the second quarter when they blew the game wide open with a 17-7 run.

By half-time, the BC Moscow advantage was 37-21 and any hopes of a miracle comeback for Panionios were killed off when Elena Danilochkina buried a three-pointer to start the third quarter.

BC Moscow will now take on Chevakata, who stunned Umana Reyer Venezia on Wednesday to advance in the competition.
