EuroCup Women favourites Dynamo Moscow showed they can beat the best but also lose to the one of the worst in the Russian Women's Superleague.
Dynamo got a pair of late free throws from Oxana Rakhmatulina and won at home 68-66 over Igor Grudin's CSKA Volgaburmash, who are among the favourites to win the EuroLeague Women.
Maria Stepanova missed with a potential game-tying shot near the end after Natalia Vodopyanova grabbed the rebound, Stepanova fouled her.
Vodopyanova missed both shots, but CSKA failed to get off a shot and slipped to 13-1 on the campaign.
Anete Jekabsone-Zogota led Dynamo with 21 points.
All the good work, however, was wasted in their next game as they were upset at home at the weekend by Dynamo-Energiya Novosibirsk, 70-69. Jekabsone-Zogota was not at her best, playing less than six minutes and missing both of her shots from the field.
Former Louisiana State University star Seimone Augustus had 18 points in a losing effort.
CSKA Volgaburmash lead the Superleague with 13 wins and just that one defeat to Dynamo, while the latter are in second place with 12 victories and four losses.
Spartak Moscow Region are third at 11-4.
On Thursday, Dynamo visit Anda Ramat Hasharon for the first leg of their quarter-final tie in the EuroCup Women.
In the EuroLeague Women on Tuesday, CSKA host MKB Euroleasing in the first game of their quarter-final tie while Gambrinus Sika Brno visit Spartak Moscow Region.
