Career: Vologda-Chevakata (Russia-Superleague, 2004-09)

Elena Volkova is a product of the Vologda-Chevakata system, a club from a city around 700 kilometres north of Moscow. Although she has never been selected for any Russian national team, Elena has been a solid player for her club side, always producing 10 to 13 points per game for a team that reached the last three quarter-finals of the EuroCup Women. A good shooter from three-point range, Elena has always been just a bit "short" for the senior national team or the European powerhouses such as Spartak Moscow Region or Ekaterinburg. Will EuroBasket Women 2009 be her first top-level event?
