Dynamo Kursk booked a place in the semi-finals of EuroCup Women for the second time in three years after completing a 66-46 success in the second leg of their last eight tie with Mersin Buyuksehir.

The 2012 winners fell at the quarter-final stage last season when defending their title, but this time they reached the last four of the competition having already done much of the heavy lifting during the first match-up in Turkey when they grabbed a ten point advantage.

Their win was secured despite a breathtaking and phenomenal effort from Mersin center Courtney Paris, who finished the contest with a spectacular 23 points and 21 rebounds.

With defences very much on top, neither team could find any kind of offensive rhythm in the early stages, but Kursk exploded with a decisive 18-4 run and combined with their double-figure lead from the first meeting, it laid the foundations for victory.

Mersin did respond by scoring ten consecutive points either side of the break to give themselves feint hopes of a potential revival, but the damage had already been done.

Whilst Paris excelled, she was fighting a lone battle at times for the Turkish club who struggled against the effective Kursk defence.

With  the rest of the entire Mersin team including the likes of Ana Lelas, Matee Ajavon, Ashley Paris and Merve Aydin shooting a collective and eye-watering sub-16% from the floor by early in the third quarter,  the visitors needed more of their big-hitters to perform.

Kursk subsequently took full advantage and rode out comfortable winners with a one-sided last quarter.

Shay Doron impressed with 22 points for the winning side.
