Next up for Saarlouis is a meeting with Russians Nadezhda in the last four.

The first leg will be played in Germany on March 11 and the second will be in Russia the following week.

It's a significant win for the Royals.

This is the first time a German women's side has advanced to a semi-final in a continental competition since 1999 when Gold Zack Wuppertal finished fourth in the EuroLeague.

Just as the opening leg was, Thursday night's game had some uncomfortable moments for the Royals as Mondeville threatened to win the tie.

With 6:06 to go in the third quarter, Mondeville had a 47-40 lead.

Tyresa Smith's two free-throws ignited an 8-0 run for the Royals and they ended up taking a 50-49 lead to the final quarter.

That's when the visitors took command for good.

Candyce Bingham, Yvonne van Daalen and Smith all made baskets before Bär capped the 9-0 run with a three-pointer for a 59-49 lead.

Mondeville never threatened again.

Saarlouis got out-rebounded for much of the contest but in a dominating fourth quarter, they ended up surpassing the French team and winning that battle, 37-35.

Mondeville hurt their own cause by turning the ball over 19 times.
