BC Moscow will only have a slender advantage in the second leg of their EuroCup Women Quarter-Final tie at home to Chevakata next week after their 70-68 triumph in Vologda on Thursday.

But the first leg win will have left the Muscovites grinning from ear-to-ear after they battled back from a 19-point deficit with 5:34 remaining in the third quarter to stun Chevakata in a showdown of Russian sides.

Alexandra Latysheva had 19 points and seven rebounds for the winners, who overcame 24 turnovers and another outstanding effort by Chevakata's Elena Volkova to post the victory.

Having scored 23 in the first-leg of the eighth-finals game against Umana Reyer Venezia, Volkova made all three of her shots from behind the arc and hit a season-high 25 points against BC Moscow.

Trailing 26-24 a little over three minutes into the second quarter, Chevakata appeared to take command by closing out the first half on a 17-4 run for a 43-30 advantage.

That lead ballooned to 55-36 near the midway point of the third quarter when Volkova buried a jump shot inside the arc.

That basket finished off a 10-0 surge during which Volkova scored seven points.

By the end of the quarter, BC Moscow had trimmed the Chevakata lead to 62-50, and in the fourth, power forward Monique Currie took over for the visitors by scoring 11 of her 18 points, including the last two on a lay-up with 29 seconds remaining that accounted for the final score.

It also marked the first time the Moscow club had taken the lead since the second quarter.

BC Moscow out-rebounded Chevakata 37-27 with Currie grabbing seven and Plenette Pierson hauling in eight to go with her 14 points.

The second game of this quarter-final will be played on February 28 in Moscow.
