Having seen time off the bench at EuroBasket Women 2007 in Italy, Coach Yildizoglu could turn to Gulsah Akkaya for her veteran leadership to help the team once again. The forward has poured in the points for many years at club level and isn't exactly slowing down after another very productive season with Samsun in the Turkish League. Having played with most of the top teams in her homeland and having also enjoyed a stint in Spanish basketball with Zaragoza, which also included a stint in EuroCup Women, Akkaya knows what is required at this level. Crowned an All Star of The Turkish League on more than one occasion, the small forward has a long skill-set which makes her a dangerous prospect for opposing teams. She makes good decisions and her experience could be important on and off the court. |
