Nadezhda 101 vs. Gospic Industrogradnja 81

Tonight Nadezhda played its last home game in the Qualifying Round of FIBA Europe Cup Women. The fans longed for revenge: in its away game in Croatia Nadezhda lost by only 4 points, scored by the Croatian team in the last seconds of the game.

The Orenburg players opened the scoring with center Maria Shamanina hitting the first two points. Svetlana Maksimenko followed her way and made two three points shots one after the other.

With five minutes of the game played Nadezhda was already 16 points ahead of its opponent and the good competitive spirit of the local players was obvious.

At the end of 1st and 2nd quarters the Croatian team tried to come back and gain control over the game and both times Vanda Baranovic-Urukalo was excellent, scoring more points for her team than other players.

Besides this she was the only leader of her team on court. However, Nadezhda showed real team play and managed to keep the 17 points difference after the 2nd and 3rd quarters in spite of the opponents' pressure.

Additionally, great team play was on show from BC Nadezhda centers, Maria Shamanina and Marina Kuzina. Together they completely outplayed the Gospic inside team.

In the last period the Croatian team showed tough, aggressive basketball. But Nadezhda pulled together and broke their spirit.

Three minutes before the end of the game Nadezhda was 22 points ahead and it became clear the game was won. The fans were satisfied with the game, fight, coordinated play of its team and wanted to see hundred points on the score-board.

Marina Kuzina made a three point shot on the last second of the game to take the score to 101:81 and the hall erupted.
