But during the last minutes of the game, the german players reduced the difference to only 4 points. But Nadezhda fought together and showed good teamwork and was though able to secure the first victory in the FIBA Europe Cup. (73:68)
"We lost because of our bad play. We lacked rhythm and were loosing positions under the basket. Nadezhda showed a good play on the whole, and especially in the first quarter of the game. In spite of the fact that we lost this game, we hope that we will win other matches, and qualify for the next round."
Dorothea Richter, BG Dorsten:
"A lot of foreign players are on our team and of course it's not so easy to play because of all these problems with translation. But everybody is very nice and we are always trying to understand each other. Russian basketball is so different from the way we play it by its aggressiveness, rush and toughness."
Alexander Kovalev, Head Coach, BC Nadezhda:
"We were trying to keep the speed high during the whole game. Unfortunately, some players fell out for the game tonight: Maria Shamanina, Olga Ovcharenko, Olga Karmanova. It is very hard to play at home. We feel this pressure of responsibility in front of our fans. Of course they support us greatly, though. I am glad that we reached the goal we set.
Svetlana Maksimenko, BC Nadezhda:
"I guess this victory showed our fans, coaches, and the players of BC Nadezhda that we can play toughand aggressive basketball. I am glad that Elena Khilkova helped the teama again."
