Szolnoki and Venezia teamed up for a tense and exciting game in Hungary, which was only decided in the closing seconds.

Despite having a spine injury, Szolnoki guard Angela Delmis decided to play, not wanting to miss a game on her birthday.

Both teams made a flying start, playing run and gun  basketball and the score remained tight in the opening quarter. It was in the 2nd that Szolnoki stepped up their defense a notch, holding the Italians to just 2 points in the opening 6 minutes.

3-pointers from Serb and Montenegrin national team player Milka Bjelica and Hungarian counterpart Orsolya Englert saw Szolnoki increase the lead to 38:29 before halftime.

It was another national team player, France's Cathy Melain, who kept Venezia in the game with her scoring and they cut the lead before halftime.

The 3rd quarter was a scrappy affair and Szolnoki retained their lead, going into the 4th with a 9-point advantage. However, poor shooting saw Venezia cut the lead to just 1-point, 56:55, with 5 minutes on the clock.

Venezia forward Vicky Hall, 18 points, led the guest team's attack, but 3-pointers from Englert and Krisztina Papp guided Szolnok to a 2-point victory.
