U18 MEN DIVISION C

San Marino and Andorra secured a spot in the semi-finals of the U18 European Championship Men Division C on Thursday with wins over Gibraltar and Wales respectively.

San Marino had little problems with Gibraltar, taking a 42-15 half-time lead en route to a 76-48 win in the second round in Andorra la Vella.

Igor Biordi was once more the main contributor for San Marino, as the 2.06m center recorded his second double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Julian Gualtieri chipped in with 13 points and a game-high eight assists.

Timothy Fava's 17 points and 12 rebounds led Gibraltar in a losing effort.

Andorra tightened the screws in the fourth quarter to beat Wales 61-49.

Leading by four, heading into the final frame, the hosts scored the first seven points and although Wales cut the deficit back to five points at 52-47, Andorra would not allow them a real comeback.

Juan Bustamante had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Andorra, who enjoyed home-crowd support by 300 spectators while Daniel Walsh had 12 points and six rebounds for Wales.
