Edwige Lawson

Career: Bourges (France-LFB, 1994-95), INSEP (France-N1, 1995-96), Bordeaux (France-LFB, 1996-98), Aix (France-LFB, 1998-01), Valenciennes (France-LFB, 2001-04), CSKA Samara (Russia-Superleague, 2004-2007)

Quite simply Lawson is the starting point guard for the best team in Europe over the last three years.  When Igor Grudin decided to turn Samara into a "European Dream Team", he gave the keys to Lawson. She has fantastic athletics abilities, which she uses on defense to put pressure on the opponent's point guard and to set the tempo on offense.  Through the years, Lawson has also worked a lot on her outside shooting and has now become a very consistent threat from behind the three-point line. But more than anything she has become a true leader, very capable of running a high-level team. Her return to the team, after a 2006 summer spent in the WNBA, is definitely good news for France.
