EuroBasket 2009 Profile

Team 2008-09: DYNAMO MOSCOW (Russia-Superleague)
Career: Alita Alytus (Lithuania-LKL, 1996-2000), Alita Alytus (Lithuania-LKL, 2002-03), Zalgiris Kaunas (Lithuania-LKL, 2003-06), UNICS Kazan (Russia-SuperLeague, 2006-08), Dynamo Moscow (Russia-SuperLeague, 2008-09)

Unlike his twin brother Ksystof, Darjus has been slowed by major injuries in his career that have prevented him from joining his brother in the national team for long periods. Darjus had back-to-back serious knee injuries a few years ago and in the spring of 2008, he was forced to undergo back surgery to land on Lithuania coach Ramunas Butautas' doubful players list. He made it to Beijing though, but with a limited role. Butautas would love to have a fit Darjus Lavrinovic, that's for sure. He shot 61.7% from the floor at EuroBasket 2007, averaging 6.6 points and three rebounds in 15 minutes per game. Lavrinovic is a threat from three-point range, drilling 46.2% (six of 13) in Spain. After two brilliant years in Kazan (15.3 points and 8.6 rebounds in 2006-07), his role went down a bit last season with Dynamo Moscow even if he led all shot blockers in the SuperLeague with 1.3 per game.
