Career: Hemofarm (Serbia-Montenegro-YUBA, 2001-03), selected by the Detroit Pistons in the first round (second overall) in the 2003 NBA Draft (NBA, Detroit Pistons 2003-…)
A few years ago he was considered the biggest talent on whole planet but he has yet to live up to those expectations. He is very agile and has great ball handling skills for a center. Some might say that it was a mistake leaving to NBA at 18, especially if you add the fact that Detroit Pistons played two NBA finals in two years. He didn’t get a real chance from coach Larry Brown and the competition (Ben and Rasheed Wallace) was too strong. On the other hand, his fellow 2003 NBA draft top picks, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, became big names in the league. Milicic refused to play at EuroBasket 2003 and was injured for the Olympics in Athens. At this moment it is hard to tell his future, considering that he spent two seasons on the bench, but fans in Serbia-Montenegro are expecting him to show what’s he made of. |
