Achara is set to emerge as one of Great Britain's primary focuses at both ends of the floor after impressing in training camp. He made his Great Britain debut in 2008 and featured at EuroBasket 2009 in Poland. Although he did not make the squad for EuroBasket 2011, he returned in 2012 and scored a game-high 16 points in GB's first-ever Olympic win, against China, in London. He previously represented his native Scotland in FIBA Europe competitions, and was their youngest-ever senior international, after previously featuring at Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20 levels. Achara began his career as a junior with Scottish League club Falkirk Fury, winning the senior league title, before attending Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He has spent time in Spain, Italy and the UK in recent seasons, spending last year with Greek side Kavala. His brother Idris competed for Great Britain in basketball at the Special Olympics in Athens in 2000. Achara had a Scottish flag tattooed on his arm when he moved to the USA to remind him of home. He supports Glasgow Rangers football club. On Twitter @KieronAchara
