Jorge Garbajosa

Career: Tau Vitoria (Spain-ACB, 1995-2000), Benetton Treviso (Italy-Lega, 2000-04), Unicaja Málaga (Spain-ACB, 2004-06), Toronto Raptors (NBA, 2006-07)

20 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in a World Championship final is not an stat line to achieve, but Jorge Garbajosa did it in Japan to lead Spain to the gold. However, he might not be able to help the team this summer at EuroBasket 2007 due to a painful and untimely injury. After a great rookie year in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors, earning All-Rookie 1st team honours, Garbajosa fell over Al Jefferson and dislocated his left ankle. He quickly underwent surgery and doctors reported he would be out for six months meaning he would most likely miss EuroBasket. Though Garbajosa underlined that he would do as much as possible to join the National Team on time, it is very unlikely Spanish fans will be able to enjoy his long range accuracy, aggressiveness and leadership at EuroBasket 2007.
