Germany And Romania Stay Up

Romania and Germany will remain in Division A of the U20 European Championship for Women for 2011 after both nations booked victories in the penultimate day of relegation round action, sending Sweden and Bulgaria to Division B.

Cristina Bigica scored 23 points to pace four players in double figures as Romania beat Sweden 80-53 to remain undefeated in the relegation group at 5-0. And Germany eased past Bulgaria 85-53 to move to 3-2 with Anna-Lisa Rexroth leading four players in double digits with 16 points.

Sweden have a 2-3 record and can still pull even with Germany but Germany hold the head-to-head advantage of Sweden.

Elisabeth Pavel scored 14 points for Romania, who also got 12 points from Alina Chivu and 10 points and nine rebounds from Flavia Ferenczi.

Stefanie Yderstrom led Sweden with 17 points.

In Germany's win over Bulgaria, Sarah-Marie Frankenberger and Stephanie Wagner both scored 15 points and Wiebke Bruns added 10 points.

Bulgaria, who scored just seven points in the first quarter, dropped to 0-5 in the relegation group despite 11 points from Aleksandra Kancheva
