Italian Woes As Hosts Fall In Chieti

Italy coach Nino Molino expressed his disappointment over his team's poor performance against Turkey which has all but ended the young Azzurre's hopes of capturing a medal at the U20 European Championship for Women.

Turkey won 64-49 and Molino said: "We just didn't play a good game.

"Too much willingness to do well hurt us at the start and then we have been forced to play catch-up.

"In the second half we managed to find our rhythm and took good shots but today, the ball didn't want to go in."

Turkey were seven of 18 from long range while Italy made just two of 15.

"The shots from the arc and their rebound domination (43-29) has been the difference," Molino said.

Italy take on Czech Republic on Thursday with their hopes of reaching the podium almost gone.
