Evgenia Belyakova and Russia battled back from a 12-point first-half deficit to beat Spain 80-73 and advance to the final of the OSTCHEM U20 European Championship Women.

Genoveva Tapia Lopez's lay-up inside the final two minutes of the second quarter had given the Spaniards a 42-30 lead but the Russians held their nerve and eventually took the lead for good at the start of the fourth period at 60-58 on a lay-up by Belyakova.

Elizaveta Rusakova, Belyakova and Elena Danilochkina added baskets for a commanding 66-58 advantage and Spain never recovered.

Rusakova finished with 18 points and six rebounds for the Russians, who will now play in the gold medal game against tournament hosts Hungary after their upset of defending champions France in overtime.

Spain, who got 18 points from Anna Cruz, will take on the French for bronze.
