Zane Teilane-Tamane

Career: RTU/Klondaika Riga (Estonia-Meistriiliga, 1999-2003), Western Illinois (USA-NCAA, 2003-06), Universitat F.C. Barcelona (Spain-LFB, 2006-07)

The first Latvian women to slam dunk during practice, Teilane is more solid than spectacular in game action. The 1.94 meter center who has played for club side RTU/Klondaika since she was 15 honed her skills at Western Illinois University for four years. Teilane’s strengths include rebounding and blocking shots and she was a capable back-up at EuroBasket Women 2005.  In 2006 Teilane graduated from university and became a member of the WNBA’s Washington Mystics. Her six minutes, 1.8 points and 1.7 rebounds per game were not that impressive but she was the first Latvian to play in the league. Following her WNBA experience she spent a solid season in Spain with Barcelona.
