In a game where baskets came few and far in between, Turkey rode an impressive defensive effort in a 38-32 win over previously unbeaten France, ending Second Round action at the U20 European Championship Women in Samsun.
Despite this loss, France stays top of Group F and will face Belarus in the quarter-finals, while Turkey finish second and will play Slovak Republic when action resumes Friday.
In a streaky first half, the defence of France held Turkey to only five points in the first quarter, but the hosts opened the second on a 13-0 run.
After Turkey took a one-point advantage (18-17) into halftime, the third quarter featured only four points apiece from both teams.
In the fourth, Pelin Bilgic sunk a triple and Ayse Cora added a jumper and a fastbreak layup for a 9-0 run, and 33-23 lead the hosts never relinquished.
Turkey forced 23 turnovers and kept their opponents below 25% shooting from the floor, allowing only 12 field goals during the entire game.
Bilgic scored 10 points in victory, Cora added nine, while Gizem Sezer had seven points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
Sara Chevaugeon netted eight in defeat.
