France pulled clear in the final quarter to beat Latvia 75-62 to stay unbeaten at the U20 European Championship Women with a 4-0 record.
A 13-0 run to start the final stanza was enough for France to put away Latvia and get their qualifying round campaign off on the right foot.
Latvia turned in their best performance of the tournament so far, but faded down the stretch as Sabine Niedola scored only one of her 19 points in the second half, while adding one rebound to a first-half tally of nine.
The game was still on a knife edge with France up 58-57 at the end of the third quarter.
But the French came out firing and a huge run took the game away from Latvia, who did not score until the 3:15 mark when Dita Rozenberga's jump-shot made it 71-59.
A three-pointer from Kristine Vitola got them back within 10, 72-62, with 2:33 to go, but a big block from Hhadydia Minte moments later on Rozenberga held their charge in check as France proved too strong.
Isabelle Strunc and Clementine Samson had 15 points each for France, while Kelly Corre and Minte each added 11 points, Minte also having 10 rebounds. Ondaye-Akoa Elenga also scored in double figures with 10 points.
Rozenberga finished with 11 points for Latvia.
