Maaike Klein scored 25 points and Demelza Ten Caat added 19 as the Netherlands continued their superb first summer in Division A with a 74-53 victory over Russia at the U20 European Championship for Women.
Klein also had four rebounds, three assists and three steals in helping the Dutch improve to 1-2 in the qualifying round Group E.
Chatilla van Grinsven added six points and 11 rebounds for the Netherlands, who have already avoided relegation to Division B after winning promotion last summer.
Russia dropped to 2-1 in the group despite 12 points by Tatiana Petrushina and 11 from Veronika Tarasova.
The Netherlands grabbed an eight-point lead early in the first quarter at 12-4 but the Russians remained close throughout and trailed 17-14 after one period.
The Dutch continued their strong play in the second quarter and a 9-2 surge late in the half created a 13-point lead. And the Netherlands were ahead 33-23 at the break.
Russia trailed by 15 points midway through the third period before cutting the margin to 46-40 after an 11-2 run. But Klein's three-pointer just before the buzzer made it 51-42 after three periods.
The Dutch put the game away for good with a 12-3 in the fourth quarter.
