Turks Edge Poles In U20 Women’s Game

Turkey defeated Poland 61-58 in a game between two sides warming up for the U20 European Championship for Women (July 15-25) in Latvia.

In the first friendly between the sides in Istanbul, Yelda Kavazoğlu, Simay Karaman and Damla Gezgin poured in 12 points apiece for the winning side.

Yasemen Saylar also had 10 assists and five rebounds to go with her two points for Turkey.

Anna Karolina Formel and Malgor Misiuk each scored eight points to lead a balanced Poland attack.

The two teams will meet again on Wednesday.

Turkey will play in Group D of the U20 European Championship in Liepaja, Latvia, against Romania, Belarus and Lithuania.

The Poles will compete in Group A against France, the Netherlands and Bulgaria.
