Wisla Can-Pack Krakow have their work cut out for them if they plan on making it back to the EuroLeague Women Final Four for the second straight season. New signing Magdalena Leciejewska from Polish rivals Lotos Gdynia certainly will not hurt them in that endeavor. | | Magdalena Leciejewska was Lotos' third best scorer at 8.6 ppg in last year's EuroLeague Women |
Leciejewska, a Poland international forward, decided to join the enemy this summer. "It was not an easy decision," she said. "After five years of playing in Gdynia, though, I decided it was time for a change. "I wanted to try my hand at another team and decided on Wisla. "I'm glad I came because I'm not totally foreign to this team, having had the opportunity on other occasions to play with the majority of players here already." Indeed, another of the new signings is Erin Phillips - Leciejewska's teammate at Lotos. Paulina Pawlak and Ewelina Kobryn are on Poland's national team with Leciejewska. "I'm impressed that in such a short time that the team was put together," she said. "I think we have a really strong squad, with good and experienced players at each position." Leciejewska is currently in Gdynia where she is finishing her university studies. Wisla Can-Pack Krakow, who lost to hosts Ros Casares at the Final Four in Valencia in April, and USO Mondeville were awarded wild cards to take part in next season's EuroLeague Women. |
