|Power forward Andre Smith, top scorer in Italy's Serie A last season, is the latest addition to Krasnye Krylia's roster.|
Krasnye Krylia Samara have announced the signing of 2.03 m power forward Andre Smith.
The 27-year-old played for Italian club Otto Caserta in the last season and was the domestic league's top scorer.
Smith led his team with an average of 18.7 points and 7.6 rebounds in 33.1 minutes of play on average.
His performances did not go unnoticed.
Several European clubs were interested in signing Smith this summer and left him spoilt for choice.
Krasnye Krylia general manager Sergei Timofeyev is confident he made the right decision.
"Our negotiations were long and quite complex. But I am very pleased that we managed to reach an agreement," Timofeyev said.
"I'm sure Andre will be of great benefit to the team and that our fans will love his game."
Smith made a name for himself in the 2010-11 EuroChallenge campaign, when he led Turkish side Pinar Karsiyaka to the Quarter-Finals.
He averaged 17.7 points and 9.0 rebounds, ranking third overall in scoring and total rebounds in the competition.
A graduate of the college of North Dakota, Smith began his international basketball career in 2007.
He suited up for Herens Sion (Switzerland, 2007-08), Albireks Niigata (Japan, 2008), Everton Tigers (UK, 2008-09), and Karsiyaka (Turkey, 2009-2011) before joining Caserta in 2011.
