Don Beck (head coach EiffelTowers): "First of all congratulations to John Patrick and his team. The success this team has at home is really outstanding. The way they play is unconventional in Europe. It is difficult to prepare for their style. I have many friends among coaches in the German league. They all warned me. So I warned my players. But until you actually see it, it is hard to prepare playing against them. They play extremely hard. I think they will go very far in the league and this competition. " Kees Akerboom (player EiffelTowers): "It was a tough game. They played full court press all game long. They caught us off guard. We couldn't play our normal systems. Our turnovers and the field goal percentage inside hurt us. We have to give credit to the German team. They showed a great effort and played very physical. We have to learn a lot from this game." John Patrick (head coach BG Göttingen): "I don't want to over-exaggerate the meaning of this victory today but it was really nice to see the way we played with high intensity over 40 minutes. Our main defensive objective was to control Dean Oliver. Our point guards made a very good job here. Ben Jacobson took control of the game and organized our offense pretty good. He secured the win for us down the stretch." Ben Jacobson (player BG Göttingen): "It's a big week for us. We have to play four games in seven days. We played with energy and an edge right away from the start. It was a great crowd tonight. In the first half we had problems controlling their shooter Akerboom. We did a better job against him in the second half. It was an all around effort by us. If we play like this consistently, we are tough to beat." |
