France point guard Tony Parker broke his right hand while playing for San Antonio on Saturday night and will be out of action for several weeks.

The 27-year-old point guard broke the fourth metacarpal late in the first half during a scramble for a loose ball.

"He's got a broken hand," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said after San Antonio's 102-92 victory.

"He'll be out six weeks.

"He did it in the first half when he dove on the floor."

Parker has missed a lot of games this season because of ankle injuries and last month he was bothered by a strained hip.

As a result, his numbers are down.

Though he is the second leading scorer for the team at 16.6 points per game, his average is far less than the 22 he poured in per contest last season.

Parker's assists (5.7) are also less than last season's  6.9.

He is an uncertainty for the FIBA World Championship in Turkey, where Les Bleus will take on Spain, Lithuania, Lebanon, Canada and New Zealand in the Preliminary Round.

One player who looks ready to contribute in the French backcourt is the former Cholet star, Rodrigue Beaubois of the Dallas Mavericks.

The NBA rookie played 35 minutes on Saturday night and poured in 24 points on 10 of 17 shooting from the floor.

He also had five assists, five rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot.

Another leading player in the NBA France are hoping to have is Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls.

The third-year center is out of action with fasciitis in his left foot.
