Dexia's Omar Cook Claims Player of the Week Honours

27.01.2006

The biggest surprise of this year’s EuroCup has been Dexia Mons-Hainaut’s unlikely charge to first place in Group K.

Their point guard, Omar Cook, scored 23 points, dished out six assists and had four steals to lead the Belgian club to a 92-90 win over BC Zadar.

As a result, Dexia clinched a spot in the EuroCup semi-final round and Cook has been named the EuroCup Player of the Week.

Cook came through in the clutch in Dexia’s fourth victory in Round II.

With Dexia trailing by four and under two minutes remaining in the game, Cook hit a timely three-pointer to bring his team to within one.

Then with 38 seconds to go, Cook drilled another from behind the arc to give Dexia a four-point lead.

For the game, Cook was 6 of 10 from three-point range.

Cook, who starred at St. Johns and had short stints for Portland and Toronto in the NBA, is averaging 14.7 points and 9.3 assists in his three games with Dexia.
