Latvia's natural starting point guard, and their most experienced player in that position, Janis Blums is certain to be in the starting five come EuroBasket. He has great speed and can run the transition expertly. He has great ball-handling skills, along with quick hands on defense. Blums also has great range, and will welcome the extended three-point arc, as most of his shots were from that distance before the change came in. A fan favourite of the Latvian followers, Janis will play his heart out every second he is on the floor. What you see is what you get with him. Blums has just come off a solid season at Bilbao, where he averaged 19 minutes and topped 7 points per game. This included a trip to the ACB Finals, where his side lost in three games to Regal F.C. Barcelona. He will look to put the disappointment of the Finals aside and shine bright in Lithuania. |
