EWE Baskets stormed into the last 16 of the EuroChallenge with a convincing 85-67 road win over Szolnoki Olaj to stay perfect in Group F.

Knowing that a win of any kind would be enough to take them through the Germans wasted little time in taking control of the game, with a 10-0 run late in the first quarter powering them into a 23-8 lead on Dru Joyce's three-point play.

After they scored the opening nine points of the second period to lead 33-13 on Rickey Paulding's three-pointer the game seemed as good as over, and it was as much as the hosts could do to stem the bleeding and keep the lead around the 20-point margin up to half-time.

Joyce made it 45-23 to EWE Baskets before Szolnoki got the final four points of the half to trail 45-27 at the break following Ernests Kalve's dunk.

The third quarter was much more productive for the hosts as they began to claw their way back into contention, briefly threatening an unlikely comeback.

Sead Sehovic's lay-up capped a 7-0 run that made it 52-40 and when Brandon Gay hit a three-pointer late in the third it was back within single figures, 57-48.

That is roughly where it stayed until two minutes into the fourth quarter when Paulding took over once more, nailing two three-pointers to start a 13-2 run that made it 76-56 on Konrad Wysocki's three-point play with 4:16 left.

From that point, there was no way back for the hosts.

Joyce led EWE Baskets with 15 points while Paulding had 14, Wysocki 13 and Adam Chubb 11. Ronald Burrell also reached double figures with 10 points.

Gay led Szolnoki with 12 points while Balazs Simon had 10. Sehovic scored eight while grabbing 10 rebounds.
