|Rickey Paulding chipped in with 11 points on a night when all players contributed to the scoreboard for EWE Baskets|
EWE Baskets Oldenburg warmed up for the quarter-finals of the EuroChallenge by dispatching Okapi Aalstar 82-74 in their final Group L game.
With the final standings already set - EWE Baskets sure of first and Okapi of third - there was nothing but pride riding on this game.
But Oldenburg might have had theirs hurt as Okapi led throughout the first quarter and well into the second before the hosts came alive to win it in the second half.
The visitors began brightly with Noah Hartsock's three putting them up 8-2, and then two more shots from range from Derek Raivio and Hans Van Langenhove making it 16-8 with 3:49 left in the first period.
An 8-2 response from Oldenburg sent them into the second quarter down 18-16 after Adam Chubb's jump-shot, but it was not until Konrad Wysocki's three-point play at the 6:32 mark in the second period that they took a lead.
Nor did they hold it long as the teams traded blows until the half-time buzzer sounded with EWE Baskets up 32-31.
They started the third period in more determined fashion, with big threes from Julius Jenkins and Rickey Paudling part of an 8-0 run that made it 40-31, but Okapi turned around and scored seven without reply to close it back up again.
The hosts needed some separation and finally got it when back-to-back three-pointers from Dominik Bahiense de Mello and Wysocki made it 57-46 with 1:20 in the period.
This time Okapi did not have a response as Oldenburg went on to make it five wins out of six in the group.
Wysocki led EWE Baskets with 12 points while Paulding had 11 and Ronald Burrell 10.
Ioana Tofi's 15 points led Okapi while Raivio added 14, Arne Steinbach and Hartsock 11 each and Christopher Young 10.
