One of the aims for Telekom Baskets Bonn and EWE Baskets Oldenburg is to be in good shape on the domestic front before they launch their EuroChallenge campaigns at the beginning of next month.

Both sides have had winning starts in the German Beko BBL, with Bonn downing Mitteldeutscher BC, 83-76, and Oldenburg routing FC Bayern Munich on the road, 80-61.

In their clash with Mitteldeutscher, Bonn got a boost from Kyle Weems.

He poured in 20 points.

Bonn were very impressive shooting the ball, knocking down 10 of 22 attempts from long range.

They also controlled the boards, out-rebounding Mitteldeutscher BC, 38-31.

One of Weems' most important baskets came with 3:39 left.

Mitteldeutscher had just cut the Bonn lead to 75-72 when Weems drilled a shot to take the advantage back to five.

After Devin Uskoski split a pair of free-throws for the visitors, Weems struck again after catching a pass from Bonn assists-machine Jared Jordan.

That basket gave the hosts a 79-73 lead.

Rickey Paulding (EWE Baskets)
Oldenburg veteran Rickey Paulding led all scorers in his team's victory at Bayern Munich, with 15 points

Mitteldeutscher got no closer than five the rest of the way.

"I am very satisfied with our first half," Bonn coach Michael Koch said.

"The start of the third quarter wasn't good because we lost our rhythm ...

"We managed to end up with a combination of players on the court that worked for us in this situation the best."

Bonn won seven of their 12 games in the EuroChallenge last season and narrowly missed out on reaching the Quarter-Finals.

Oldenburg blew away Bayern, 80-61, to add to a very difficult start to the season for the German giants.

Bayern were supposed to be coached again by former national team coach Dirk Bauermann, but the two parted ways last week and Yannis Christopoulos was installed as the new boss.

Oldenburg took command against Bayern in the second quarter.

The visitors trailed by a point at the end of the first frame but outscored the Bavarians 40-28 in the second to claim a 40-28 lead at half-time.

Veteran sharpshooter Rickey Paulding led a balanced Oldenburg attack with 15 points.
