|Big man Adrian Laso had 23 points and nine rebounds for Mad-Croc Fuenlabrada|
Mad-Croc Fuenlabrada stayed perfect in Group K of the EuroChallenge as they topped BK Pardubice 85-70 in Spain.
Adrian Laso came up with 23 points and nine rebounds to help the group leaders, who have already qualified for the next round, to a straightforward victory.
They used a huge second quarter to break the game open. Pardubice scored the first five points of the period but were outscored 29-11 the rest of the way to half-time as the hosts came alive.
Laso scored back-to-back dunks amid a 10-0 sprint that ended the half.
Pardubice did not go away, and battled their back to within single figures at the start of the fourth quarter when Ondrej Peterka's three-pointer made it 69-61 before he split a pair of free throws to leave a seven-point difference.
That was soon wiped out by a Leonardo Mainoldi tip-in from Sergio Sanchez's missed lay-up and a Kirk Penney lay-up, and the hosts held Pardubice at arm's length the rest of the way.
Mainoldi scored 18 points for Fuenlabrada while Penney added 12.
Maurice Hampton led Pardubice with 20 points while Corey Muirhead had 13, Marcus Arnold 12 and Peterka 11.
BK Pardubice Head Coach Jan Slowiak
"First of all, congratulations to Mad-Croc Fuenlabrada. It was a better team than us, especially in the second quarter. We improved in the third quarter, especially on defense. The key of the match has been in transition on offense made by Fuenlabrada. These attacks have provided quite comfortable shooting. Furthermore, we missed too many shots."
Mad-Croc Fuenlabrada Head Coach Porfirio Fisac
"We started a little bit cold. We noticed the fatigue and the requirement of having played a tournament as demanding as the Copa del Rey. But then we showed character to overcome. We have to work much harder to close the rebounds and defend like animals. That is our strength, as we showed in the second quarter and at various points in the second half."
BK Pardubice player Ondrej Peterka
"I agree with the valuation made by my coach. I think the key of the game has been the second quarter, where they have been great on defense. We have missed too many shots. But we gave the best of ourselves. For us, it is an honour to compete against a good team of one of the best leagues in Europe."
Mad-Croc Fuenlabrada player Adrián Laso
"We started very badly, but then we were able to recover. Especially in the second part, we played with more intensity defensively. Of course, I am very happy with my personal performance. I think that it is the reward for the hard work I do every day. I took confidence in the early going and then everything went fluid. But above all, I'm happy for the team result."
