GAME REPORT

Roanne Hand EWE Baskets First Loss

Roanne Basket knocked EWE Baskets from the ranks of the unbeaten in the EuroChallenge with an 86-80 triumph in France.

In the Last 16, Group I clash, Dylan Page had 19 points and Andre Barrett 16 with seven assists for Roanne.

John Holland, as has been the case for much of this season, also came up with some big plays at the end for the winners.

The game was a thriller, with Ronald Burrell's three-pointer giving EWE Baskets a 63-62 lead with 1:43 to play in the third quarter.

Mouloukou Diabate answered with a shot from the arc for Roanne to put the hosts back in front.

On their next trip down the floor, Roanne got a dunk from Richard Jackson.

The last points of the frame were scored by Page on a jumper, his final basket of the game, for a 69-65 Roanne lead.

Holland ended up hitting a couple of big shots to see his side to victory.

With EWE Baskets threatening and down 80-76, Holland made a jumper to extend the advantage to six.

After four straight points from Rickey Paulding closed the gap to 82-80, Holland made a jumper from inside the arc.

Roanne ended up winning by six to improve to 2-0 and lead the group.

EWE Baskets, who won their first seven games in the competition, are now level with ZZ Leiden (both 1-1) and BK Ventspils are 0-2.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Roanne Basket vs. EWE Baskets

Luka Pavicevic, Chorale de Roanne coach:
"I would like to congratulate my players for this important victory. This result, combined with our away win last week in Leiden and the Leiden-Ventspils result tonight (73-69 victory for the Dutch) places us ideally for qualification to the next round."

Philippe Braud, Chorale de Roanne player:
"We knew this team was too strong individually and collectively, even if they have some difficulties in the league."

Predrag Krunic, Oldenburg ooach:
"Congratulations to Roanne for their victory. We fought hard but missed too many shots."

Adam Chubb, Oldenburg player:
"It was a tough match. It is always difficult to win on the road. If we had played at the top of our potential, we could come back with a victory. Luka Pavicevic is a very good coach. He knows how to explain [plays] to the players, he can exploit their capabilities. He loves the game and especially winning."
