Pops Mensah-Bonsu of Besiktas Milangaz - EuroChallenge Final Four 2012 MVP
The EuroChallenge Final Four 2012 MVP ring seems to be a perfect fit for Pops Mensah-Bonsu

Besiktas power forward/center Pops Mensah-Bonsu was named as the EuroChallenge Final Four MVP by the media professionals covering the event.

While the Great Britain international and his Serbian teammate Zoran Erceg were both delivering an enormous performance on the floor to guide their team to victory over Elan Chalon in the title game, they were also, inadvertently, locked in a fierce battle against each other in the race to earn MVP honours.

In the end, it was Mensah-Bonsu who prevailed over his teammate, if only by just one vote.

The 2012 winner of the EuroChallenge MVP ring followed a very different way to previous bearers in past seasons in securing this coveted round metal object.

Mensah-Bonsu only joined Besiktas Milangaz in early December and made his EuroChallenge debut in the away game at BG Göttingen later that month.

The British big man was an instant hit.

He scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds in that first game, and went on to register eight doubles-doubles in points and rebounds in the next ten, including Sunday's final.

Against Chalon, Mensah-Bonsu scored 26 points and captured a stratospheric 20 rebounds.

In the semi-final against Szolnoki Olaj on Friday, he had contributed 13 points and 13 rebounds, although he stayed on the floor only for 21 minutes due to foul trouble.
