BC Minsk-2006 have not been in the best of form of late but don't tell that to Telekom Baskets Bonn.
The German high-fliers travelled to Belarus and fell, 78-71, with Aliaksandr Kudrautsau pouring in a game-high 24 points for the home side.
Andrei Krivonos' team has been struggling in the VTB United League and looked to be headed for a defeat at the end of the first quarter on Tuesday when the Bonn outfit stormed into a 23-14 lead.
Although the hosts clawed their way back to trail 39-37 at half-time and knot the game at 47-47 on a three-pointer by Justin Hawkins early in the third quarter, Telekom Baskets again went back on top by as many as eight and seemed to have everything in control when the advantage was seven going to the last frame..
BC Minsk-2006 kept plugging away and finally went in front.
Down 66-62, the home side got three-pointers from Courtney Eldridge and Aliaksei Trastsinetski and a jumper from Aliaksei Lashkevich.
After Simonas Serapinas, who had 17 points, dunked to cut the Minsk lead to 70-68, Kudrautsau popped a three-pointer.
The Belarus outfit stayed on top the rest of the way and completed the upset.
Jared Jordan scored 12 points and handed out 11 assists for Bonn, who made just five of 23 shots from long range compared to an eight-of-15 effort for BC Minsk-2006.
Bonn Head Coach Michael Koch:
"Three quarters of the game my team played very well, but later on the 4th quarter our opponent showed more initiative. "Minsk - 2006" played very impressive. They deserved the win."
Bonn Forward Simonas Serapinas:
"We didn't play the 4th quarter as we should play. Maybe our players got tired at the end of the game."
Minsk 2006 Forward Aliaksei Trastsinetski:
"We are very happy, because we win the game after 5 losses. But we shouldn't relax and work more on defense."
Minsk 2006 Head Coach Andrei Krivonos:
"It's very hard to play after 5 losses, which strongly depressed our players. But if we continue to play like today with Telekom Baskets we will win more often."
