No Contest As EWE Baskets Down Dolphins

23. Rickey Paulding (EWE Baskets)
Rickey Paulding and the EWE Baskets remained unbeaten in the EuroChallenge after the regular season

EWE Baskets put the finishing touches on an unbeaten Regular Season in the EuroChallenge with a demolition of Norrköping Dolphins on Tuesday.

Kenny Hasbrouck erupted for 28 points and Dominik Bahiense de Mello scored 23 as the German club rolled to a 106-61 victory.

The Oldenburg club, which swept Fuenlabrada in their two encounters, ended up 6-0.

Trailing 26-22 at the end of the first quarter, EWE Baskets blitzed the visitors in the second and outscored them 29-11.

They put the result beyond doubt in the third quarter by torching the Dolphins defense for 35 points.

EWE Baskets finished 37 of 67 from the field, including 12 of 29 from long range.

Next up for Hasbrouck and Co will be the Last 16.

As for the Dolphins, who had no chance of progressing before the contest with just one win and four defeats, their EuroChallenge campaign is over.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes EWE Baskets Oldenburg vs. Norrköping Dolphins

EWE Baskets Oldenburg head coach Predrag Krunic:
"I don't want to put too much focus on this game. The team has played tremedously well in the EuroChallenge so far. I am very proud of the six victories and the way we have achieved them. This game was another good offensive performance by my team. The scuffle in the third quarter was unfortunate, but when fouls occur and players play physical these things unfortunately happen."

Norrköping Dolphins head coach Paul Burke:
"I think we played very well in the first half. Being down by fourteen against such a good team is well within our gameplan. Oldenburg was the dominant team in this group and we knew that this was a tough game. From the third quarter on the game went nuts. We were already playing with only eight players due to injury and losing two further players due to ejection made it absolutely impossible for us to mount any serious challenge to Oldenburg in the second half. The fighting was a really uneccessary and ugly incident, which I hate to see happen in games."

EWE Baskets Oldenburg guard Dominik Bahiense de Mello:
"For the most part the game was a lot of fun for us. We wanted such an offensive output especially after the heavy defeat against Ulm the past weekend. Tonight we really played as a team, shared the ball well and showed a lot of enthusiasm. The incident in the third quarter was really unfortunate. No player wants these things to happen but sometimes emotions get the best of you."

Norrköping Dolphins player Mikko Riipinen:
"We are clearly disappointed to go out of the EuroChallenge like this. Last year we had a really good run in the EuroChallenge and we wanted to build on that. We came here with two players hurt and after the suspensions in the third quarter we were no longer able to compete physically especially since Oldenburg continued to substitute well rested players."
