BC Nizhny Novgorod edged BC Enisey Krasnoyarsk by just three points on the road after coming out on top in an 85-82 thriller in EuroChallenge Qualifying Round.
Both clubs were all tied at 92-92 after the first leg as they took to the floor in front o 2,500 fans in Krasnoyarsk and it was the hosts who led 26-25 at the end of the first quarter.
Dmitry Golovin's three pointer at beginning of second quarter brought BC NN back to level (28-28) for the first time since the opening minutes of the game. Afterwards BC Enisey responded strongly with a 10-3 run of their own to re-establish the lead.
Marcus Williams then tipped in the last points of the second quarter as Vanja Plisnic missed a last gasp three pointer for BC NN, meaning Krasnoyarsk took a seven point lead to the break at 44-37.
In the second half Yakovenko levelled the scores at 61 points a piece before veteran Alexey Savkov released a shot three seconds before the buzzer to hand the home team a two point advantage heading into the last ten minutes of the game.
It was still level at 71-71 thanks to a dunk by Dmitry Kulagin then strong shooting from BC NN gave them the led with a little over a minute to go on the clock at 83-81.
With turn-overs for both teams following this, Enisey received possession of the ball with 31 seconds to go, only to see another turn-over - forcing Labovic to foul on Ivanov with 22 seconds to go.
Enisey fouled in quick succession to send Kulagin on free-throw line, the BC NN player sunk both shots to give the visitors a four point cushion. Aleksic of BC NN fouled to send Lonny Baxter on the line, making one, and missing the second one with time attempt a quick basket, but missing from under the rim.
