|Lionel Chalmers sealed the win for Lokomotiv Kuban in overtime|
Lokomotiv Kuban needed overtime to do it but came away with a 92-91 road win over BCM Gravelines Dunkerque to put one foot in the EuroChallenge Final Four.
Lionel Chalmers scored the decisive points on a lay-up in the final seconds of the extra period, and then watched as Julius Johnson's desperation three for Gravelines missed.
The teams were never separated by more than two points in a tense overtime.
That margin only occurred twice, and it was Lokomotiv who enjoyed the cushion both times.
They were up 88-86 after Alando Tucker hit the second of a pair of free throws with 1:48 to go, but Johnson wiped it out with a jump-shot.
Massey then went to the line and hit both his shots to make it 90-88 with 1:14 to go.
Alexey Surovtsev came up with two big blocks to twice deny Benjamin Woodside, but Lokomotiv could not take advantage as Surovstev missed a lay-up of his own.
Cyril Akpomedah grabbed the rebound and took it back to nail a three, giving Gravelines a 91-90 edge with only 15 ticks left.
But after a time-out, Chalmers came up with the key basket and Johnson could not find a way back at the death.
It was a fitting end to a thrilling game in which Gravelines scored the final five points of regulation to force the extra period, with Akpomedah's three-pointer tying the scores at 82-82 late in the fourth period before Chalmers missed a chance to win it at the buzzer.
Chalmers led Lokomotiv with 26 points while Jeremiah Massey had 21 and Michael Wilkinson had 20 and nine rebounds.
Akpomedah led all scorers with 29 points for Gravelines, wehile Woodside added 18 and Johnson had 17.
Lokomotiv can now seal a Final Four berth with victory at home in Game Two on Thursday.
