Arturs Berzins and Oritseweyinmi Efejuku teamed up to power a 104-69 BK Ventspils rout of the Norrkoping Dolphins in EuroChallenge Group K.
Berzins poured in 27 points, adding nine rebounds, while Efejuku had 26 and eight assists in the lop-sided win.
The Dolphins had jumped out to a 7-2 run at the start, but it was all Ventspils thereafter, and they pulled away, using an 18-0 run that spanned the first two quarters to go up 41-19 with 7:53 until half-time.
The Dolphins never even got within 20 points during the second half as Ventspils continued to pour it on.
The visitors were doing their best to keep it respectable, and clawed away at the lead, with Oladapo Ayuba's jump-shot making it 86-62 with 4:49 to go.
But Ventspils finished on a 14-5 run to spread it on thick.
Rashad Anderson added 17 points for the victors.
Ayuba led the Dolphins with 17 points, while Andrew Mitchell had 13 and Joakim Kjellborn added 10.
Ventpils improve to 3-2 but still trail BCM Gravelines Dunkerque in the standings, while the Dolphins drop to 1-4.
Dolphins Head Coach Kelly Grant:
"I want to congratulate Ventspils with victory. They played very good tonight. The problem of our team was a very bad defence. The fact that some of our leading players have injuries is not an excuse."
Dolphins player Oladapo Ayuba:
"Ventspils played a very good game, they came out aggressive from the beginning of the game. Later on Ventspils took the lead and it was very hard to reduce the point diference. We tried to fight, but we could not succeed."
Ventspils Head Coach Guntis Endzels:
"Firstly, I want to congratulate the team with getting into the next round. We conducted the rhythm of today' s game and everything went according to our plan. We had a good offence, we managed to score three point shots and prevented their best players from scoring important shots."
Ventspils player Arturs Berzins:
"We started the game very well; the game was ours. We knew how to use the weak points of our oponents and we managed to fulfil our task defensively. The game was played according to our scenario."
