James Reynolds' lay-up with one second denied Nancy a place in the Last 16 of the EuroChallenge as they lost 92-90 to Entente Orleanaise in Group H.
In a dramatic finish, Orleans snatched victory as they rallied from a 20-point deficit to secure a stunning win.
Nancy knew they needed a win to go through and looked like cruising to it as they led by as many as 25 points, 45-20, midway through the second period.
But Orleans showed signs of life as they ended the half on an 8-2 run.
They continued to slowly chip away at the lead throughout the third period, and had it down to 11, 71-60, when Maleye Ndoye sank a three-pointer to end the quarter.
Mael Lebrun's three-pointer with 4:16 to go was followed by a pair of free throws from Reynolds as they closed to within two points, 80-78.
However, it was not until the 1:49 mark that they got level, 84-84, and Nancy responded with a three-point play from Kenny Grant.
Reynolds' three-point play of his own tied things once again, and the fouls were coming thick and fast as Amara Sy was also able to tack on a point following his lay-up.
Grant tied the scores one final time with a three-pointer to make it 90-90 with 28 seconds to go, but Reynolds then raced through to win it.
Ndoye led Orleanaise with 20 points while Reynolds and Adrien Moerman had 18 each.
Willie Deane was the star for Nancy with 23 points, while Akinlolu Akingbala had 18, Grant and Tremmell Darden had 15 each and Victor Samnick 11.
